The Coast to Coast walk
Church Holme is situated in Danby Wiske on the coast to coast walk. Depending on which route you take, either on the road or through the fields in to Danby Wiske, you may walk by us. As we’re next to the church, we are easy to find. Check out the coffee and cake page for details of what we offer for visitors passing through on the C2C.
In 1973 Alfred Wainwright published A coast to coast walk. He said of Danby Wiske, “is less attractive than it’s name. At 110 feet above the sea, Danby Wiske is the lowest point between the coastal extremities of the walk. Verily a slough of despond”.
At Church Holme we will dispel this myth, by a warm welcome, and even a bite to eat at the end of a long days walking. The villagers are a friendly bunch with village events on the event field (opposite Church Holme), the village green and in the village hall (including a beer festival in April, and Yorkshire Day event on the Green in summer).
After a long day walking you can use the camp kitchen with simple food choices from the tuck shop, alongside a breakfast sandwich menu to set you up for the day ahead. The local pub offer hearty meals and can be booked on arrival at the camp site and local takeaways deliver, including Dominos!
We have hot powerful showers, and have been told by fellow walkers they are the best on the route. Phone charging points are available in the camp kitchen, along with tea and coffee making facilities. Laundry facilities are also available for an extra charge.
The cost for a walker/cyclist and tent is £12. Double occupancy £16. Any additional adults sahring the same tents are £5 extra. We have a dedicated paddock just for walkers and cyclist to camp separate from the main camping fields.
In 2024 the campsite was shortlisted for the Great Outdoors magazine Campsite of the Year.
We also have a large pitched tent available on request. £50 with camp beds, bedding, electricity, table and chairs.
B&B annex also available for walkers who would like a warm bed.

We have an octagon tent that is available. This is set up and ready for you with two camp beds, bedding, electricity and camp chairs
